Environmental geography concerns the interactions between humans and their physical surroundings. One of the fundamental principles of this course is that environmental dynamics are inseparable from social, cultural, political, and economic processes and relations. Environmental geography gives you the tools to develop sustainable solutions to environmental problems. For example, you will learn about the effect of climate change on biodiversity, the impact of humans on environmental resources and much more.

Regional analysis is the study of a specific region or area, with the goal of understanding its characteristics and patterns. This can involve examining the physical, social, economic, and cultural factors that shape the region and the way it functions. The goal of regional geography is to identify and understand unique regions, and areal differentiation and division of the entire world that our knowledge of each small unit or region should logically place.

Political geography is the study of how humans have divided up the Earth's surface for management and control purposes. Looking beyond the patterns on political maps helps us understand the spatial outcomes of political processes and how they are affected by spatial features. Political geography provides critical insight on the spatial dimensions of political issues, such as how boundaries and territories are created and maintained, and how conflicts arise.
